Francesco Pessina was born in Magenta in the province of Milan.
He undertook his artistic formation at the Ripetta Art Academy in Rome and the Brera Art Academy in Milan studying painting and sculpture.
He lives and works on the Aeolian island of Filicudi but travels extensively to various main cities and international capitals, where he has widely exhibited in many high profile shows. It was precisely in Filicudi, an island boasting primitive beauty and strong energy, where he chose to dedicate himself to sculpture as a means of expression.
Pessina’s sculptures, Miles, Propheta, Servus, Columna Vitae, Totem, …, are reflections on humanity and the roots of human existence.
